Centenary United Methodist Church is a congregation of the United Methodist Church. The church has a Sunday morning service and Sunday School classes for adults and children. The dynamic congregation is involved in many mission and service projects in Jacksonville and around the world. An active youth and children’s ministry is thriving, which makes Centenary an excellent home for families.
Centenary belongs to the West District of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Conference covers an area bordered by the Mississippi River on the west, Route 136 on the north, and Jerseyville to the south. The eastern boundary is mainly along route 267 (but also includes other communities such as Rushville and Carlinville). This western curve of the state has a rich tradition of Methodism with heritage that includes spiritual leaders like pioneer circuit rider Peter Cartwright and Peter Akers.
